Stasis Dermatitis
  • Erythema, hyperpigmentation, and scale occurring on the distal lower extremities, particularly over the medial malleolus
  • Stasis dermatitis is frequently preceded by chronic and recurrent edema of the lower legs
    • Chronic disease may result in thickened skin and ulcerations.
    • Histology: Hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, vascular proliferation, dermal fibrosis and a patchy infiltrate of mononuclear cells accompanied by extravasation of erythrocytes
