Scabies
  • Papules, pustules, vesicles (especially in infants) and nodules
  • Linear burrows, rarely longer than 1 cm are diagnostic, but not seen in every patient
  • Lesions are concentrated in the wrists, hand and feet (particularly the interdigital webs) and in the body folds
  • Pruritus is intense, particularly at night
  • Caused by infestation with the Sarcoptes scabiei mite; generalized pruritus is a result of sensitization to the mite protien
      • Histology: Scrapings of lesion will show mites, ova or fecal concentrations
