Psoriasis
  • Sharply demarcated erythematous papules and plaques covered by scale, which may be silvery
  • Lesions classically involve the scalp, elbows, and knees. The intergluteal cleft is another common site; 50% of patients have nail involvement. Occasionally psoriasis may cover the entire skin surface.
  • Increased epidermal proliferation results in accumulation of stratum corneum (scale)
          • Histology: Hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, dilated tortuous vessels in the papillary dermis
          • See laboratory section for additional examples of histology
